PLEASE DO NOT APPOINT/REAPPOINT A FOREIGN NATIONAL REQUIRING A WORK PERMIT.

Effective February 21, 2015 Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has made changes to the International Mobility Program (IMP). The vast majority of foreign nationals visiting and/or performing research or working temporarily at UAlberta enter Canada under the IMP.

The International Mobility Program applies to foreign nationals who fall into the “LMIA-exempt” category, and include (but are not limited to): Post-Doctoral Fellows

To invite foreign visitors access the U of A Human Resources website at: http://www.hrs.ualberta.ca/HiringandManaging/Immigration/InvitingForeignVisitors.aspx

Login to: UAlberta Immigration Management System

For details on how to use this new IMMIGRATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, refer to the Foreign Visitor Category Assessment User Guide and Tips

Immigration Services will assess the information and if required, create and submit the required forms and payment to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Once a response is received from CIC, Immigration Services will contact the department with further instructions. For information about inviting a foreign national under the International Mobility Program, please visit the frequently asked questions.
